Hi Marybeth, thanks for your comments.
Urad dal is white lentil.
Mustard seeds and white lentils along with curry leaves are always used for seasoning in Indian cooking.
You can try reducing the amount of the red chili powder ; coriander powder is to settle down the chili flavor. Happy cooking :-)

I am so technically-challenged, so I struggle with all the attachments, etc that are available to me for my blog. I use my blog more as a journal for myself and write about what I know and care about. I DO NOT write it to be critiqued or "graded." I really feel a blog should reflect that person's personality. That's what makes them all so fun and unique, especially when you read one that you really connect with the person. I was drawn to your blog because of your darling little pooch. That says a lot about you. Just have fun and enjoy! Comfortcook

Thanks! I have started a cooking website/podcast called RealcookN.tv and have several podcasts on recipes that have been used throughout my family's recipe books! Hope you find something you'd like to try!!
