I'm having a dinner party Friday night and would love to have a fruit platter and some dip on my list of appetizers. Can anyone suggest a good dip and what winter fruits would be good to use? Thanks!
Caramel Dip - 8 oz cream cheese, softened, scant 1 cup brown sugar (lt or dark), 1 tsp vanilla extract. Blend together and refrigerate until ready to use. Can top with nuts if desired. Great with fruit and pretzels.
Peanut Butter Dip - equal measure peanut butter and melted vanilla ice cream. You can make this as sugar-full or sugar-less as you like (natural peanut butter plus no-sugar-added ice cream is nice), and change the ice cream flavors for variety. Great for PB lovers.
But my favorite is mascarpone cheese blended with agave nectar. Superb with fruit. I could lick it out of the bowl. Honey would also work. Could also work in some chevre for more delicious goodness, but I prefer that less sweet and either blended with or served alongside fruit.
I have a wonderful Pumpkin Dip on my blog that goes great with apples and pears. Please stop by and take a look at it. Let me know what you think of it.
