Do you know these Chef's?

Hi! I'm curious as to what information can be given on the following Chef's Brian Coates and Chris Canan? I know nothing about them. I purchased about 100 cookbooks from a lady who said her boyfriend was a chef and she was getting rid of his books. They have Brian Coates name in them and some were given to him as gifts by Chris Canan. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
